The consequences of the COVID pandemic have had a dramatic effect on homelessness and those who have made the first steps from homelessness into work and accommodation, with the loss of jobs and income and the struggle to find funds for such basics as rent and gas and electric . The stress of a lack of money has also added to the pressure on relationships and resulted in increasing numbers of individuals becoming homeless. Despite an excellent Rough Sleeping Initiative by the West Berkshire Council, there is still a need to provide immediate overnight accommodation whilst the client's registration with the Council and consideration for accommodation is approved. West Berkshire Homeless's agility in being able to support these immediate needs is imperative for those who are trying to improve their lives and to have or maintain the basics of a roof over their heads and heating and light .

We are delighted to say that our Good Exchange Project for Emergency Accommodation over the winter period was successful and reached its target - every amount donated has been well spent - thank you to you all for your wonderful support!
We now have a new project on the Good Exchange which has been accepted for matched funding! It is to cover the running costs for one of our ‘move on' multi-occupancy houses and is reference no. 18162. We set this house up to help homeless people to establish themselves but in these early days they do need support with the costs whilst work and/or benefits are sorted.
WBH vacated the Old Snooker Hall in September 2019
with grateful thanks to
RESSANCE PROPERTY DEVELOPERS for their free provision since last February. We continue to support and work on 'pathways' alongside the residents in our three half-way houses and our daily support of individuals who are seeking to make lifestyle changes.
None of this work would be possible without the wonderful support of our volunteers or without the financial support of the community and businesses in our area
THANK YOU ALL!
Thank you to the Fire Service for their wonderful fundraising on our behalf during their recent Open Day - just awaiting the final total to be confirmed!
Thank you to the Donnington Valley Golf Club who have 'adopted' WBH for the year and held a hugely successful Golf Charity Day to raise even more money to go towards their year end total next March.
We will all be looking smart in matching WBH T-Shirts and Polo Shirts due to the generosity of Construction Site Services who designed and paid for these.
Thank you to The Red House and The Castle pubs for once again inviting us to be their charity at the 70's quiz nights on the Tue 20th and Wed 21st August 2019.
Also, it is a busy time as we work hard to ensure our 3 half-way houses meet all the Fire Regulations and we cannot thank enough all those of our volunteers who have been involved in this work.
With 3 more people into accommodation during July, we are so very grateful to the Community for their wonderful, ongoing support!
WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!
